Disrespectful and Abusive Treatment of Women while Accessing Maternal Health Care: Perspectives from Africa –Lawyer’s Evidence

Evelyne has over 13 years of experience in women rights advocacy with current specific interest in reproductive rights.
Evelin´s webinar is a true story about problems of free healthcare in Africa:
- the reasons why African women do not seek medical care during pregnancy and at childbirth,
- what types of women are denied in help by healthcare workers and why,
- what humiliations undergo women in birth.
Evelin tells sad stories about individual women, who suffered not only morally, but also physically because of disrespectful, offensive and rude attitude of medical staff in hospitals, and who suffered from illegal actions of medical staff. What international documents protect women´s rights and if it is possible to refuse certain medical services.
